President Donald Trump said Sunday that a “dividend of at least $2,000 per person” will be paid to all Americans except “high-income people,” saying the country is now rich as a result of his tariff policies.
“People who are against tariffs are FOOLISH! We are now the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation and a record price in the stock market. 401k plans are the highest of all time,” the president wrote.
“Everyone will be paid a dividend of at least $2,000 per person (not including high-income earners!),” he added.
In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had not spoken to Trump about the proposed dividend.

Trump called those who oppose the tariffs “fools” and stated that “everyone will be paid a dividend of at least $2,000 per person (not including high-income people!).”
“The $2,000 dividend could come in many forms, many ways, George,” Bessent told host George Stephanopoulos. “You know, it could just be the tax cuts we’re seeing in the “The president’s agenda: You know, no tip tax, no overtime tax, no Social Security tax, no auto loan deductibility.”
