A human hunt is undergoing a shooting that wounded a police officer in Santa Monica, California, authorities said.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Santa Mónica Place, an outdoor shopping center, police said.

“The suspect remains in general, and a coordinated search is underway,” said Santa Monica Police Department in a statement.
Police published a photo of the suspect while asking anyone to recognize or see him call 911.

A Santa Monica police officer was injured in the incident and transported to a hospital in the area for medical care, the police department said.
Santa Monica Place has been clear, and a great police presence remains in the area, the department said.
