On Tuesday, a sudden flood emergency was issued for northwestern parts of Maryland, where the severe floods led to the evacuation of two primary schools.
A sudden flood emergency for Westernport, Luke and Barton was issued in Allegany County, where up to 5 inches of rain had fallen until Tuesday afternoon. Rain rates were up to 1 to 2 inches per hour.
There have been numerous rescue of water, even in two primary schools in Allegany County, the authorities said.

Some 200 students and teachers were evacuated from Westernport Elementary School in Westernport for motorized ships to a nearby church, confirmed Allegany County officials to ABC News.
All students and staff were safely evacuated, according to the Allegany County Emergency Services Department. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office directed the Evacuation Efforts and Maryland State Police was helping with the student reunification.
Georges Creek Elementary students in Lonaconing were also being evacuated to a nearby high school, the Allegany County Emergency Department said Tuesday afternoon.
The students of the Westmar intermediate school in Lonaconing took refuge instead, the department said. Family gatherings have been delayed due to current road closures caused by floods, a government source told ABC News. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The State Police were helping with additional road closures due to high waters.
County officials urged drivers to avoid all flooded roads and not try to drive through stagnant water.
“The serious floods are currently affecting Georges Creek and its surroundings in Allegany County due to the increase in water levels,” said the Allegany County Emergency Services Department in a social media post on Tuesday afternoon. “Multiple areas have already been evacuated.”

More than 15 million Americans in the Middle Atlantic remain on alert for floods and heavy rains on Tuesday to Wednesday.
An flood clock remains in force for Eastern North Carolina, central-east of Virginia, East of Virginia Occidental, the center-west of Maryland and the Center for Pennsylvania until Wednesday. That includes the cities of Raleigh, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; and Hagerstown, Maryland.
The pockets of heavy rains and showers are expected to continue from North Carolina to Pennsylvania on Tuesday until Wednesday. Some of these heavier pockets could present strong to severe storms capable of producing a little hail, ráfagas of isolated wind and an isolated tornado, especially for the center-east of North Carolina and the central-east of Virginia.
Heavy rain pockets will focus more on Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania, with lighter rain in the surrounding areas.
