Trump tells air traffic controllers to “get back to work NOW” and calls for a $10,000 bonus for some
President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at air traffic controllers who lost their jobs amid the government shutdown, recommending a $10,000 bonus for those workers who continued to work without pay.
“All air traffic controllers need to get back to work, NOW!!!” Trump wrote. “Anyone who doesn’t will be substantially ‘docked’. For those air traffic controllers who were GREAT PTRIOTS and took NO TIME OFF for the ‘Democrat shutdown hoax,’ I will recommend a $10,000 per person BONUS for their distinguished service to our country. For those who did nothing but complain and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid in FULL in no time, I AM NOT HAPPY WITH YOU. You didn’t step forward to help America.”

The president called on the workers who were absent to leave the profession “without payment or compensation of any kind.”
“It will have a negative mark, at least in my opinion, on your record. If you wish to leave the service in the near future, please feel free to do so, WITHOUT payment or compensation of any kind!” Trump wrote. “They will be quickly replaced by real Patriots, who will do a better job with the new, state-of-the-art equipment, the best in the world, that we are in the process of ordering.”
