A woman died and five other people were injured when shots exploded early on a large outdoor meeting on the west of Chicago, one of the three separate shootings that will occur in the same neighborhood in less than three hours, according to the police.
The shooting occurred just before 2:48 am local time in North La Cross Avenue in the neighborhood of southern Austin on the western side of Chicago, according to an incident report of the Chicago Police Department.
“The officers responded to a call from a great meeting and found several people triggered,” police said in the report.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found six people suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said.
A 22 -year -old was discovered with a gunshot wound in the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, where she was declared dead, police said. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
Five other people suffered gunshot wounds in the incident, including two 18 -year -old children and a 17 -year -old button. One of the 18 -year -old victims was shot in the chest and left arm. Police said he was in critical condition at the Stroger hospital in Chicago, while the 17 -year -old suffered a gunshot wound in his left thigh and was taken to the Hospital del Monte Sinai in a critical condition. The other 18 -year -old was treated at the scene by a grass wound in his left hand, police said.
A 29 -year -old man shot in the right leg was also in critical condition at Loretto hospital in Chicago, according to the police.
The shooting also left a 29 -year -old woman with a gunshot wound in the right elbow, according to police, who said she was taken to Rush Hospital in good condition.
No arrests have been announced until Sunday afternoon. A reason for the shooting remains under investigation, according to the police.
At least two other shootings occurred in the same Chicago neighborhood on Sunday morning. The police have not said if the shootings are related.
About three blocks from the massive shooting of North La Cross Avenue, an 18 -year -old boy was shot in the back in West Maypole Avenue at 4:37 am and then died at Stroger Hospital, police said. A second 18 -year -old boy was also shot in the arm during the shooting, according to the police.
The two teenagers were fired after arguing with an armed man who shot them from a vehicle, police said. Arrests have not been announced.
Approximately an hour before the mass shooting in North La Cross Avenue, the police responded to the shooting reports one block away in North Lamon Avenue and found a 20 -year -old woman who suffered multiple bullet wounds on her arm, according to the police. The woman was taken to the Mount of the Sinai hospital, where she was in good condition, police said. Arrests have not been announced.
The shootings in Chicago occurred less than a day after one person was killed and five other wounds, including a 5 -year -old girl, in a massive shooting at an outdoor meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. A reason for that shooting remains under investigation, according to the police.
